Binding Details: Fine contemporary signed binding by Atkinsons of Salisbury that is bound in full dark red calf with a boxed gilt decorated spine with gilt titles, blind ruling to the boards, and silk head and tailbands. of three-quarter morocco leather over marbled boards with elaborate decorations and titling to the spine which has raised spine hubs. All page edges are gold gilted. On the inside of the back cover is the binding ticket of Atkinsons of Salisbury. The book is housed in a custom made paper covered slipcase.
Book Details: This is a first edition, first printing of the “The Child World” published in 1896 by John Lane, The Bodley Head. Containing 50 poems by Gabriel Setoun that are divided into 5 sections ("Home and Play", "Music", "Fancies and Pictures", "Romance" and "Post Scripts"), the book features over 100 incredible Art Nouveau pen drawings by Charles Robinson that are a perfect complement to Gabriel Setoun’s writing.
The book measures 7.625” x 5.25”, 174 pages plus 12 pages of the publisher’s book advertisements.
Condition Report: The binding is in Near FINE condition with some minor surface wear. Internally the book is clean with some age toning. A small blind stamp of a London Bookshop, H.H. Smith and Sons appears at the top of the 3rd free endpaper.
